You may not see the throngs of sun worshippers, but there are some who like these cooler days at the beach.
The surf today was about 3 to 5 feet, rough and choppy, and it’s pushing up the high tide again, said Volusia County Beach Patrol Capt. Tammy Marris.
Expect that some of the narrower driving beaches in Volusia County will be closed during high tide, she said.
Other than that, it’s been quiet at the beach.
Events for this weekend include a surf contest, the Seacow surf series, which is part of the US tour for Volcom. The event is on for Saturday and Sunday.
The 16th annual BEACH House 5K Run for Runaways is set for 8 a.m. tomorrow in Daytona Beach. The race is held annually as part of National Runaway Prevention Month and raises money for youth residing in the shelter. The event is organized by Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare and will be held on the beach. The starting point is at the Ocean Deck.
